Monsieur le Chargé d'Affaires:-

Referring to your letter of 23rd. May last,

I have the honour to inform you that it was the de-

sire of His Majesty's Goverment, in sending you

copies of the Royal Decree on Quarantine of May 9th.

1900, that you would be good enough to take necessary

steps for the enforcement of the same against all

ships under British Flag.

With regard to the assurance required by

you concerning arrangements at the quarantine stati on

for the housing and provisioning of the persons who

may have to be landed there, I have the honour to

state that I have just been informed that Dr. Nightin-

gale had been instructed by the Local Government to

make a suitable plan for new buildings the erection

of which will be completed within five months. Dr.
